Default Trading the Aftershock

I've had some success trading the aftershock of a news spike. It is a different beast - longer, quieter and more stable. I did some statistical analysis of news announcements with a friend - both the spike and the period afterwards. We wound up going in different directions and he published the results on his own - Forex Shockwave Analysis, McGraw-Hill 2007.

Since brokers won't accept hedge orders has anyone tried a cross-platform hedge?
