Hi, I'm relatively new to forex trading and have to say I'm better at trading sports but I'm not sure I fully get what the advantage is to placing the barriers after the news release and not before.

Afterwards you are leaving yourself open to missing the majority of the spike whereas before you will surely catch it all either way. Also is 6 ticks either side not a bit close and could leave you open to getting both filled if there is conflicting news which causes market noise around the price at news release time?

To be honest I haven't had time to fully test the system as is or to test my theories but maybe you could let me know what you think on these points? Thanks H

If you could get filled easily by placing orders "before" the news, then you are correct. That would be better. The problem is, your stop orders will get slipped making it very risky to set orders up before news events.
